Sharing time at Paul Duez middle school
Hello
We arrived in Cambrai (59, north of france) monday evening. Tom and Flo kindly hosted us. They live in a passive house and have great interest in ecology, education and cinema.
A passive house, what is that? It is a house that is so well insulated that it doesn't need any heating (or very very less). The big windows facing the south (where the sun hits the most over a day), made of three layers of glass and very well sealed, the house is fully hermetic. The air is renewed and runs through the house thanks to a CMV (controlled mecanic ventillating) very powerful. Concerning heating, just very few electricity is enough. It is Men and sun that are the heaters.
The day after, tuesday 29th of november, Tom took us with, to take time to share with his 9th grade class, in Paul Duez middle school of Cambrai. It was very interesting to see the reactions that these teenagers had about our project and also to see how Tom is open. He just takes one hour on his schedule to let this exchange happen.
In this middle school there is a sustainable development class that attracts a lot of teenagers. It offers to work on projects where students think about more sustainable solutions and alternatives to nowadays life. Some skills to reach more than grades, that's also what Tom and Flo's school are about.
Since tuesday afternoon we are in Bruxelles, Belgium, where we slowly discover the positive initiatives that take place around. We have been host by Manu and now we live with Louise and her flatmates, all studying arts.
See you soon for more news.
